Hey guys,

I just recently had the idea of making an instagram account in the fitness niche since it's something I'm VERY knowledgeable and passionate about. In the past two days I've had to remake the account three times (I'm on my 3rd one now) because I got locked out of my account (security check ban) for just simply following people that were posting the "followforfollow" hashtags and then unfollwing them a couple hours after they followed back :lmao:.

My question is, how do I best go about building this account up? I have a good idea and I believe that I can get the content to make it a hit among college kids like myself.

I've read a lot on this forum so far and it seems like there is more to it than I thought. I'm good with computers but I just need to know where to get started. Thanks!

Start following people in the fitness niche. Forget followforfollow because it's useless. Find an authoritative fitness account and follow their followers. Don't unfollow them. Just slowly build it up

I did that on the other accounts but it gave me the "security check" pop-up after only following around 40 accounts. Is there anyway to ensure that this account doesn't get that issue again like the two others?

Yup, don't just immediately unfollow, that stuff will get you banned fastttttttt!

Why are you unfollowing people who follow you back? Also, dont unfollow them the same day.

To get my followers/following ratio back down by unfollowing some accounts that had a huge following amount.

You can follow around 40 accounts per day. This is how it's always been. If you want more followers, use some of your content for "follow bait". Then, make a list of 10 owners of popular fitness websites, and send them your follow bait in an e-mail, requesting they post it to their page. This white hat strategy should get you at least 50 followers in a few days, and more over time.

It might have been mentioned in here before. When an account is new, you will get flagged much quicker for spammy behavior. When your account is well established you can follow and unfollow much more..Its best to only unfollow accounts that never fallowed you back and give them at lease a few days to Fallow you back. There is an app called followers that you can download that will show you who aren't fallowing you back so you can start by unfollowing them first. You can control the time delay ie. unfollow after 3 days, by the amount of people you are fallowing. If you are following 2000 people and you are unfollowing 100/day, starting with the oldest first (bottom of the list), it will take 20 days before the people you followed today to get to the bottom of the list to be unfollowed. There is no substitute for positive realistic behavior. Comment similar users, Fallow similar users, like photos with similar tags. Eventually they will allow you to follow a lot of accounts as long as you don't unfollow them too quickly. DO NOT FOLLOW AGAIN PEOPLE THAT YOU RECENTLY UNFOLLOWED. You will get warnings first. If you get a warning...give the account a break for a day or two.

you can use unfollowgram (just google it) to easily find and unfollow users who aren't following you :)

Thanks for the advice on apps that are made to keep track of who unfollows you but I've been using those since 2012 haha. I am definitely smart about how quick I unfollow and who i unfollow, etc.
