Noob question

Alright, so I built my first wordpress site this past weekend and I used the Yoast plugin for on-site SEO purposes. My question is, is it good to have meta descriptions and focused keywords for every slider and home page box? What I mean is, on my homepage I have a slider that has it's own meta description and url as well as 2 different home page boxes that also have their own meta descriptions and focused keywords. I've never built a site with wordpress and the builders I used before only had SEO related options for each individual page. I've noticed since changing over to wordpress I've taken a big hit in my rankings and I'm wondering if this is why.

No one has any answers? I'm wondering if it's better to hide the yoast options for one of the home_page pages and the slider and only do SEO on 1 home_page. I hope that makes sense. I know I'm not supposed to post links or show my site but it's not a niche site, it's more of an affiliate site but I'd like some help and I think this is probably the easiest way. Here's my site what-is-zeekrewards(dot)com and you'll notice there are three boxes on the homepage, one is a slider and the other are considered boxes under the homepage tab. Is it better to have SEO on only one of the homepage boxes and leave the slider and other box alone or is it best to keep seo for all three elements? I hope someone can help. Thanks

I have not used the Yoast Plugin, but I've had great results just using "All in 1 SEO" plugin in Wordpress. I would not try to add meta descriptions into every little area of your page, just focus on the main meta desc for the page, and then work on having a unique meta desc for each one of your interior pages as well.

Changing over to Wordpress from another CMS is more than likely what caused your drop, any big change to a site is going to cause Google to drop you for a few weeks until it's had a few weeks to look over the content and make sure everything still matches. I've heard lots of people say that Google prefers Wordpress, but I don't think this is the case, Goole just knows how to read the CMS much easier, and a lot of people on Wordpress are bloggers making constant updates of fresh content, which Google really likes.

Thanks for the response. I thought it was weird to use meta data for multiple sections on a home page, it just didn't seem right.
