noob question... Who is publishing on ClickBank?

Hi guys, sorry for my rather noob question, but I couldn't fully understand who is publishing the clickback adds. To clarify:
1. are the publishers independent? they have their own websites or other marketing sources and they use them to add your link? banner? pop-up?
2. What's the best niches on clickbank? how do I know, for example, if clickbank publishers would be good for promoting tourism products? or gaming products?

Clickbank is just a third party 'middleman'. So yes, the publishers (vendors) are independent and need to have their own website, tools, etc...

the popular niches (weight loss, forex) are very competitive, if you are new to this is best to avoid them

well I'm new, but i do want to try the popular niches I've experience in coding and product managing, have a product and Landing page I want to promote, now I'm working my way through CB... if you're already here, any tips for a newbie?

The publishers are indipendant, you can be a publisher if you want!
