noob question regarding proxies.

First off let me say that i have searched the forum via "search function" for my question and haven't been able to get a good answer to my questin due to the sheer volume of search results and some what vague-ness of my question.
how do you implement proxies? Do you use a program that acts as a mask for all computer activity or is it localized for specific programs? i want to put in place the ability to use different proxies for forum spamming and some account creation. where do i start?

You'd need to clarify your question just a bit; are you trying to create your own proxy server, or do you have a proxy address & port, that you would like to use? If it's the latter, you can use any program behind a proxy using "proxifier" for windows. If it's the former, you'll want to hire a cheap VPS with linux on it, and then install "squid" on it. ("Squid" is proxy server software.)

Hey, you could go for an ip hiding service but that costs and sometimes doesn't work. Proxies could be private or public. The private proxies you buy the public proxies you scrape with a proxy scraping program. Public proxies are often abused and do not last a long time while private proxies you can use them how ever you want. Hope this clears up a little for you

Using proxies depends on what software you're using to do the particular activity you want to use proxies with.

For instance, most of the SEO/IM software nowadays is supporting proxies natively, and all you need is buy/scrape some proxies and stick them in the appropriate module of the program.

On the other hand, you can use proxies with any browser (IE, Chrome, FF, Opera..). Just go to the options of the browser and search for Network/Proxy settings.

You might also take a VPN wich is able to change IPs (like HMA VPN) and just restart the VPN everytime you want to change your IP.

The good thing about VPN is all your traffic is redirected, including your instant messangers and such, so you're completely anonymous (well... most of the time).

The answers above are very helpful. I myself have either manually changed my proxy settings in the browser internet options menu. However, I also have used downloadable proxy switching software and paid VPN services. The high-anonymous or anonymous ones are the best to use, I learned.
