Noob question about domain/host . . .

I'm not new to domain/host thing, but I am new to something I saw few hours ago.

Someone here on BHW said, we dont need hosting service, all we need is domain name for some adult affiliate money sites.
Now, my question is, how is that possible?
I'm sorry if this sound so noob, but in past few years I use to always purchase hosting service so this is new to me tbh...

For example, how can I add anything to some domain if I dont have host?

My 2nd question is,
If that is not possible, can anyone suggest me some good domain/host services which will alow adult content ?

There are few good reasons why I'm asking all this, it's gonna take long time to explain everything, in short words, I'm short with money, I dont have for hosting service, even domain name is hard to get right now in my situation but anyway, I have decided to sacrifice some things from my life so I can work on what I want and get to my goals once more again.
If I'm able to get good hosting for cheap money I will for sure think about that.

You don't necessarily need paid "hosting" if you link your domain to a free wordpress.com blog, or blogger site etc... but if you want to be legit, it always pays to have your own hosting, and install wordpress yourself, or code your own website.
