noob question about CPA

Hi all,

I did a search on BHW for CPA methods. Basically I was hoping to find a thread on CPA for beginners with some examples from practice.
I understand that with CPA the advertiser only pays when a goal is reached, like buying a product or ordering a prospectus. But how do you get started, I'd like to see what someone else did and emulate.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Get a lof of facebook friends (people you don't know personally) or twitter followers. Send them all CPA offers like:
"Hey I won an IPOD, try it!" -> + CPA Ipod link
