    Hi,

I was researching keywords for an article I am writing at the moment when I searched some of the keywords on the google tool, to my surprise I noticed some of the best keywords were estimated at £0.04 per click. I thought to myself- I'll have some of that!

I spent a while making a nice text advertisement, choosing keywords, I even started pimping my blog in expectation of all that lovely cheap traffic!

Anyway to my horror when I had finished my little campaign Google tells me that 3 or my keywords I cant use because they are associated with bad business practices or some bullshit. But thats not the biggest problem, the other 3 keywords I am now told will not show as my max CPC of £0.10 is below the front page estimate of £1.25!!!

So could someone help me out please as I am new to this... Is the CPC estimate in google keywords tool completely wrong or is this £1.25 estimate wrong or am I just not getting something here?

I am trying to promote a low gravity CB product - its not the most competitive product by a long shot.

I guess what I really want to know is (should have just said this at the beginning!) :) Is there anywhere where I can get a true estimate of what the CPC will be for a given keyword without having to create a campaign first? I wasted a lot of time before I found out that it wasn't viable. There is no chance I can make money at £1.25 a click. Absolutely none. So if I had known this was the true cost instead of £0.04 I wouldnt have wasted my time.

Sorry if this is overly noobish question :p I promise to give back some gems of wisdom in a few years when I understand this game!

Average is just that, average. You're going to have high numbers and low numbers that bring you to that number. Some people are paying on the high end, some on the low end. I'm not a PPC expert, but quality score goes into determining your CPC, which is further based on CTR and your landing page. So maybe you need to look into those things.

Ah I see! I didn't really see there was a correlation between the quality of my landing page and the CPC. That could explain things as the landing page is not even half finished.. I wanted to see if the CPC was viable before spending hours and hours finishing the landing page!

Maybe there just isn't any short cuts .

    Thanks for input!
