    Hey everyone,

Ive been here for a few months now and been learning a lot. I started a 2012 journey thread a while back but got a bit side tracked with real life work and then realised that I didn't really have a clear enough plan for what I was trying to achieve. This made it hard to get motivated as I didn't really understand myself what I was supposed to be doing.

So.... I'm back with a much clearer idea of what I hope to achieve and I will document it here as I go along and hopefully gain some advice from you guys too. I don't do IM full time so this may not get updated every single day but 2 or 3 times a week I should have something to report.

Any advice at any point of this will be greatly appreciated. I do have some tools available to me and I am looking to start building a portfolio of micro niche sites. The one thing that I could do with a bit of help with initially is getting an adsense account. I applied for one a few weeks back but it still says that it is pending review. Anyone know what I can do about this?

    Anyway....

    Day 1:

Today I am going to do the following:

    1. Use Micro Niche Finder to find 3 keywords that I want to target. I am going to aim for $2 cpc and min 1,500 monthly searches.
    2. Get domains for these 3 niches (hopefully there are still $1 GoDaddy coupons floating around)
    3. Build at least 1 site with 2 500 word articles
    4. Find out how to approve adsense account
They are my aims for today. If I can get those 4 things done today then I will be happy with that.

    Feel free to get involved.

    Quick update:

Micro Niche Finder is taking forever to load things on my shitty laptop so may just try and find one good keyword to target today and then get a domain and build a site. New laptop needed very soon I think!

    ok a few tips here

    1.
if your adsense account hasn't been reviewed in 7 work days (weekends don't count) you can fill this adsense form to get a status update about your application

    ****s://support.google.***/adsense/bin/request.py?hl=en&contact_type=approvalstatus&rd=1

    2.
make sure your keywords are found with Exact Match for those search numbers

    cheers good luck

Thanks for that. How do I know if the keywords are exact match for the search numbers? I am using micro niche finder and I get 3 columns. Local search count, global search count and exact phrase count.

never used micro niche finder but I think both global&local are broad matches

you can check it if I write 'giant fish tank' in google keyword tool

    ht**://s16.postimage.o*g/xbolwveut/fish.png
sucks that I can't post images too new account on BHW....well anyway

giant fish tank has 1600 broad searches and only 140 exatch match searches
so only 140 people type giant fish tank into google as-is per month

if you based your site on this word you couldn't make money with it with only 140 searches

    Ah right,

I just used the same keyword in MNF and it gave me 140 local searches and 140 global searches. The exact phrase count was 1,160,000 which I'm guessing is how many websites use that phrase. At least I know now that global will give me the exact match. Thanks

2 500 words articles i nowhere near enough content at all even for a small site. You need at least 5

Thanks for the input. I probably won't get 5 done today but if I can add 2 today and then add another 2 or 3 over the next couple of days then that should be good enough.

when I created my own MNSs few months ago I used this site as an example

    warningsignsofdiabetes.c*m

    +keyword in url
+2 keywords in header "Know Signs of Diabetes & Check Blood Sugar Before It's Too Late"
+good adsense theme with 2 ad blocks on top
+4x400-600 word articles all targeting a different keyword (links on the right)
+3x400-600 word articles on top of the page

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

Made one big Noob mistake today which I have definitely learned from. Learn how to use the fucking tool before you dive right in.

Spent 3 hours messing around with MNF thinking that I knew how to use it. Then decided to watch a couple of youtube videos which taught me how to actually use it properly and would've saved me a lot of time!

    DOH!

Ok, I think I found a keyword that I am going to target. It doesn't have as high search volume as I had hoped but has a good CPC. The one I have found has an EMD available and has 720 exact monthly searches and a CPC of just below $7. The competition is easy for this keyword too. Do you think this looks like a good bet for my first MNS?

Also does it make that much difference how long the keyphrase is for the EMD? I'm using MNF which is telling me that this phrase has 720 exact monthly searches but it is a pretty long phrase.

    some advice for you.

think what is going on inside the mind of a site visitor. would he be interested in ads after reading the info you provide on your site? Also, will there be any ads targeted for the content you provide?

For example, if your keyword is "why is the sky blue" (246,000 exact local US searches) you will hardly get any ad clicks because the visitor is simply not interested in whatever ads you will be showing. (the ads themselves will be pretty random anyway because no one advertises for such keywords on adwords).

    End of Day 1:

Well I didn't get quite as much done as I had hoped (my own fault for not learning to use MNF properly before I started).

But I did manage to find a keyword with EMD. I registered the domain and installed wordpress. I also setup the Thesis theme and started writing my first article. I got most of what I wanted to do done today. I will have most of the day on Thursday to get on with this so will post an update then. If anyone has any views on the keyword info that I posted above I'd be interested to hear them.

That makes a lot of sense. I think I need to look at it from the visitors point of view a bit more. The keyword that I have chosen may be ok for this though.

    Day 2:

Hey everyone, Only got about 4 hours to spend on this today so I am going to use this mainly writing articles for my MNS.

Does anyone have a MNS that they wouldn't mind letting me take a look at so that I can get an idea of how I should lay mine out? I know that people are very protective of their niches so maybe a site that doesn't convert well anymore or something.

    Quick update:

After doing a little more research I decided that the keyword that I came up with initially probably isn't a good one to target. Therefore I am now working on content for a completely different niche. This is a niche that I made a bit of money from last year with one of my ecommerce sites and so I know that their will be ads showing for it.

The new KW has 1000 exact monthly searches with a CPC of $1.35. I have bought an EMD for this niche, installed wordpress and went for the HeatMap theme. (Please let me know if you think I should go for a different one). I have also written one 500 word article so far and will start working on another one now.

Should I have my articles as posts on the homepage or just link to them from the homepage?
