This is from traffic travis.

1st result is an authority page with NOT a lot of content.
2nd is a shitty EMD MFA
3rd is youtube
4th aboutCOM
5 and 6 are wiscDOTedu blogs
7-10 are similar to the first

The KW is from the "how to do stuff" range. Only thing is that a com, net, org or info EMD isn't available.

What is available though is DoStuffDOTtldhere and when i searched for the kw "how to do stuff" only the DoStuff part of the domain was bolded for result nr. 2, the HowTo part wasn't so google must have ignored it.

Does that mean "how to do stuff" EMD and "do stuff" domain have the same SEO value for the phrase "how to do stuff"?

Local monthly is 10K
Global 15K
CPC 0.5$ (not going to use adsense)

How hard would it be for me to get to first spot? That crap EMD made in 4Q 2011 is second. Shouldn't be that hard, right?

Looks like a piece of cake to me. That being said, I don't know your skill set/knowledge.
Don't worry about getting an EMD. My advice is to head over to Godaddy auctions, find an aged expiring domain that is somewhat related to the niche, and buy it.
