Noob local seo link building strategy question

I've done local seo link building/citations for local businesses, and ive done standard link building for sites that dont have a storefront, but im wondering can you combine the 2?

lets say i have a website/blog which reviews gadgets. can i create a contact page which gives a physical address/phone number (the address can be a general co working space like We Work), and call my company 'Hi Tech Gadget Consulting', and then build links to that page using traditional local seo link building strategies such as citations (and social profile links).

would this work? maybe move the needle for a new review site?

In my experience it really is only beneficial to employ both of these strategies on a brand new website that doesn't have any outreach. I was working on a site that has a national presence and was not ranking well in Google. It does have a primary storefront location but that is not the focus - more of a "family owned shop" type deal. Once I was able to get that ranking locally in the SERPs and Google started to have more faith in the pages I moved into generalized link building strategies with no focus on local - eventually the "local" aspect of it died down and the national stayed. The difference this caused is to go from 2-5 leads per day to nearly 25-30 leads per day, a pretty substantial improvement for a site that doesn't rank in top 5 often.

To make a long story short - I would employ both strategies as it builds "credibility" with the search engines. However, I have yet to have a bad experience using both, others may have more insight or case studies.

Yes I don't see why not. If you are looking to acquire links for any website, then getting local SEO type of links will provide you additional links. Plus business citations will make the site look more legitimate. But don't be sloppy.
