Non Profit Hosting - Project SEO

Hello there all BHW members! Sweet ass over here as the summer is rolling in. + 13 C today!

I am starting up a little project that will be 100 % non profit.

We will together build and tweak "Hosting" Services, technology and knowledge.

I am thinking about a system that we "the" members can build together, cut costs, enable non profit services to individuals that need to for example start looking at a "simple" VPS for SEO tools.

We will be straight up with all configurations, work as a loose organisation, give our customers "straight" options.
Profits will be 100 % reinvested in the project and good causes.

You want to start hosting service or SEO service? What are you expecting from a partner?

Simply, we buy dedicated servers, we setup the configuration together, we can have several modes of service eg of VPS resources.

Basic
Medium
Pro

Together we can build, finance and expand services.

Member only pay their share of the cost, around 25 - 30 % of the actual market price right now! or even less with more resources.

Some members might want to buy for ex a share of a VPS resource that they can use together and so forth save dollars...

Whatever concern SEO services, that is individual licensing and something for each member VPS to pay for separately.

Exspectation from joiners, some knowledge from Vsphere, Hyper V, networking, not neccesary. Or just newbees that want to start with a simple VPS that can support SEO tools and not get ripped apart by high bills, under used resources etc.

The aim is to build a system that can run automatic and manage "scale" itself at a fraction of the current market price. But also profile the users after resource use and pass the saving back to that user. Well.... and so much more, a private network where you can communicate with the other users you share with, exchange tips, etc.

Now how is that for a price tag??? like?

I think I know what you are saying. When most of us, well at least me, hear someone pitching a non profit venture with business language, I tend to think in legal formation, especially when you talk ablout discounted services that are legitimate in the same sentence. I think that as I would take it, starting a digital collective structured under a 501(c) coding for discounted rates and a scalable marketing and recruitment program is not your thing. You just want to "split a box" with some guys to save a dime.

If you want to do the whole Coop thing, then I would get in contact with several vendors and compare ready made or possibly even custom coded software and interfaces, coupled with a good lawyer.

If you want to "share a box" with some guys... then please post it in the JV section.

I have thought about is as a total non profit solution, of course the foundation of "get a feew guys and split a box" is the core idea, but taken a bit further than that. I think however that i will resort to the JV section and explore further.

Like you said, the legal prospect does not look like something i would like to explore any further! lol. And i should have known better as i studied some law in my days!

Until the day i get some serious cash to play with, then i will pay up get a fat pappa bear server and just dump it type, go to prison, yeah like people say! One day it is your turn, sometime in life you go in the locker for some time, sh*t happens! Sweet

actually the reason I mentioned it is that it really is an awesome way to run an enterprise, especially in the tech field. Truth be told, I would not shy away from pursuing a shared coop of hosting to be used for SEO research and tell the organizers to even apply for research funding in the form of grants in order to start it. The legal stuff is actually how you come out ahead in the non profit arena. Getting paid to start a company instead of worrying about profitability can be a wonderful thing. But yes, there is some study involved.

Good luck in JV as well. I would say that before you do , you make sure to get more than one Dedicated IP. Come up with any BS reason and get the vendor to supply you with a few extras. I would do this b4 you go to JV with it. Nothing like having the other guy "burn out your IP and use all of your prepaid BW" at a 1/4 of the cost to him, leaving you with crap and the boot.
