How long would you give a person who won your auction on Flippa time to pay before it's considered non-payment? 72 hours? A week? What's fair and reasonable?

Totally agree with meathead1234

Sellers are obliged to have funds for a website bid readily available prior to placing a bid. We've recently updated our bid confirmation page to increase the emphasis on this.

Raise a dispute from your auction page after 72 hours if the buyer is not being responsive. More often than not, we will at the very least suspend the buyer if they do not follow through on an auction they have won - these types of buyers are of no value to anyone.

Fortunately this is not a common occurrence so hopefully you hear from them soon.

Thanks for the input. I have talked to the guy on the phone and he sounds really flaky to me. I have sent him my email for payment as well as sent him a paypal invoice and have heard nothing. He also was a brand new flippa user. Only $200-but still, its a tad annoying.

Yeah if you don't hear from him for 3 days, then just file a dispute with Flippa and you can get your site relisted for free and get all your upgrade fees credited back.

Hello there,

from my experience (I'm selling in $500-700) range website, I would recommend waiting 96h and then file dispute, that's another 72h, so you have a week in total waiting actually.

During that time, on every day or every second day send them PM and send them message trough that thing "sales area conversation" anyway and send them email. All three, it sound's a bit spammy, but it's not, you want to make sure that they receive those messages as new users are not so familiar with flippa system. :)

I'm saying this from my experience, as I've noticed following. Person goes on flippa.com register and purchases my website (BIN) let's say for $500. He does not have that kind of money on his PayPal and he needs to upload funds.

Now, in that time he is not going to say "I'm waiting for money" or similar as that sounds stupid. He will just wait and pay you.

I'm saying this from experience and ton's of sold websites. :)

So, wait ~96h and then file dispute that gives you ~72h and you've waited enough, get your points back and start auction over. :)

Hmmm..I don't know. I think 72 hours is sufficient. It would be different if it were for thousands of dollars, but you don't have to pay for an auction with funds from your Paypal account--you can pay by e-check, debit or a credit card. My gut feeling tells me this guy isn't going to pay up..I will post an update on what happens!

Yup, you are right, but I'm just saying from my experience on this. :)

I hate when delay happens, but sometimes it happens, I bite my fingers then to be honest and adrenaline is pumping, but when it works well it's all cool. :)

If he does not pays up and he is new, he may just be competitor, check if he has +1 feedback, that means that he has verified some cell number instead of regular land line phone. :)

Wish you good luck, I hope he will pay you. :)

Are you checking the "require BIN buyer to pay with paypal" button when making your listing? Just asking as I have never had that happen with my BIN's.

As to the op's question. You can never go wrong by following Flippa's terms and give them 72 hours.

Well, you were right. He didn't have any money in his Paypal account and was trying to get the money together. Once I filed a dispute, he paid by e-check which should go through on Paypal by Wednesday. Any other little Flippa words of wisdom you want to share? :)
