    Hi.

I made a thread in local seo yesterday, but haven't really heard anything yet, as it seems like this forum is not that active.

I have a question that's I really can't seem to find a proper answer for. At least not one that gives me a clear enough answer :)

Does language mean anything when building links ?
Say I have a site in Danish can my tier 1, 2 and 3 links then be in English? Or does all my links need to be the same as my money site ?

Language depends on the location that you want to target. If you want to target the people of whole world then, you should have to use English because it is world wide language. It looks good to use English rather than using other languages.

Okay. Let me elaborate a bit more on that then. My site is in Danish, targeting danish speaking people. My question is then. Can I build English links to the site, as in contextual links from English articles, social bookmarks from English sites and English profiles etc..

    Okay. Thanks for your reply.
When you say "high quality" does that mean that my links needs to be of a higher quality than if I was building an English site?

If those links are of high quality you'll be golden in no time. So, in essence, no problem with English site links for your Denish site, as long as it is relevant.

If you target danish people, create 80% of your quality links in danish for a lasting result. I do a lot of international seo in other languages than english and it is a safe solution. Otherwise google can slap. My two cents.

It matters but it's not essential.

It's the same as getting link from unrelated source (law firm linking to dog e-shop fe.). You're loosing relevancy but link power is still there.

Two most important things for a link are anchor text and link power. Everything else is secondary.

I have a client with money site in Hebrew and I'm ranking him on the first page with 100% English content PBN.

English content PBN -> Hebrew anchor text -> Hebrew money site

Relevancy gives about 20-25% additional link power from my testing. In other words, if you miss relevancy, you'll need about 20% more links to rank on the same position as you would with the 100% relevant sources.

If you mix up backlinks in both Danish and English languages, but always use Danish anchors regardless of your content language, you should be fine.
