Now I've googled alot about nofollow & d0follo\_l_/, some say they help, some they they don't. So I'll just ask here: Do NoFollow backlinks increase SERP?

Not directly, but they certainly make your site seem more authentic. In the end, yes they'll help.

Not really. They don't pass on much (if any) authority/link juice but as stated above they can help overall as it seems like a more natural linking pattern to your site. Thousands of DF links and zero nofollow links flags suspicion! There has been talk of G changing the way they view nofollow links but I guess we'll have to wait and see how that one turns out..

I will like to say no follow helps if your link building method must appear natural in the eyes of the search engines.

The strategy is always to make the link profile appear natural. This means that naturally, people will link to you despite being no follow. This means that if your site or your page is truly interesting, different types of links are going to point at you which includes the no follow links. To answer your question, yes, they are important not as as SERP boosters but as SERP protectors.

I have directly improved search rankings using only nofollow links, on more than one occasion. Have tested this thoroughly and found it to be the case.

    ******** = improved page rank + SERP
    Nofollow = improved SERP

Yes,I've seen a few case studies where only non follow links were used for backlinking, and the website did increase a lot in overtime.

I have also gotten a site indexed with one link from Yahoo answers, proveing that n0follow is followed.

Just because a lot of people believe something is true, doesn't make it so. Get any natural looking links you can, and ignore the follow attribute. The truth is they ARE followed, they pass (some) authority, and they are natural links for a normal site to have, increasing the PR of the site they point to, especially if they are related to your niche.

There are no absolutes in SEO except that Matt Cutts will lie to you.

For every 100 people on here that say no follow helps, you'll find 100 who says it doesn't.

    Hi!
I think yes. If your link is on high PR site and is no-follow then you will somehow gain the trust and in turn gain some traffic.

No Follow links will not directly increase SERPs.. but do not think that you dont need them.

No Follow links are very natural to the search engines and can help out immensely in maintaining consistent rankings.

Ex: Just imagine taking steroids, you will see significant gains from this.. these are like do follow links. Now think of No Follow links like vitamins.. even though you are not noticing an immediate impact from the vitamins, they are still adding things to your body that it needs. If you do not take these vitamins you can even crash from all the steroids.

Example might be lame but its the best I can think about for this relation.

    Enjoy! :p

No follow links does not help in increasing ranking but it is beneficial for the traffic purposes.

Although no follow links don't pass link juice to your site they do pass relevance. So if nofollow link comes from website relevant to yours then it is still huge value. For example if you sell gadgets and you have no follow link from technology related blog it is still very good value and this link worth a lot from SEO perspective.
