A few months ago I started an adult blog. Mainly written content (a true blog).

Over the course of those months, I started generating impressions (a few hundred per month). A humble start to my little adult blog. Clicks started coming through at a reasonable rate so I thought I was doing things right.

4 weeks ago, impressions dropped to zero and clicks dropped to zero. I hadn't added any new content in about a week, and haven't added any since the drop.

I have no backlinks.

I was motivated to continue working on the site by seeing the slow trickle of users and clicks. All of my pages are indexed in Google search, and if I explicitly search for my site, the pages show in results.

Is this just typical of a new site experiencing an initial positive result followed by being dominated by others? My KW are relatively long-tail and so I was surprised to see it go from low impressions to no impressions at all - but should I be? Anything else I should check? I really want to continue working on this site but if I have been dinged elsewhere, I'd like to know.

Hosting on Bluehost.

Dropping from low to no impressions can be saddening. But don’t let that stop you from actually working and developing your blog. Don’t forget that low or no impressions at all are actually quite common, especially for certain industries and niche target audiences. They don’t always indicate a problem with your content, but rather a low search volume for the keywords you’re targeting.

Maybe try Google Trends to find out the overall interest for your keywords and industry. Then, you can adjust them ever so slightly to cover a wider audience. Keep in mind that by their nature, long-tail keywords have a low search volume but can provide higher conversion rates and are more likely to improve your SEO ranking.

Check if you have been hit by the Spam Update. The adult niche was one of the targets, clearly.

get google search console working to see how google is tracking impressions. That's probably the best way to see what google's view of your site is.

I recommend you to continue working in your site, maybe there is a busy week and specially now that December is coming, there might be high and lows, just adjust the tactic a little bit and add more content and you will notice that everything will go back to normal, if you notice that after a reasonable period of time everything still the same, we need to start digging what happend with your blog.

You need to keep posting content regularly and need to buy or make backlinks. I think that everything is fine with you, it's normal. You can also work with keywords, find those with more traffic.
