No more Google Authorship images

Am I the only one around here who are happy with this?
Ok, I know less ctr etc, but as user I hate those profile picks. I want read articles, not see peoples faces.

I think authorship photos help webmasters and users a lot.

If a user sees an article in the serp together with a photo, they click it and found the post interesting, the next time the user searches for another term and see that photo, they're like: "Hey, this was the person who wrote the interesting article that I read yesterday." There's a big chance that the user will click that link to see what that author has to say.

Still a great branding tool. I'll take what I can get but yeah, the old image-based listing boosted CTR.

I kept telling myself I would apply for google authorship, guess it's too late :congrats:

I thinking to apply for authorship. But Holy Google thinking to remove. What a timing sense ?

It did increase CTR for organic searches but at least it is one less thing to have to implement when creating websites.

Exactly - I did it for all of my sites because all of my competitors did it too. Now it will be a level playing field again and it won't be as much of a pain in the ass to set up a new site.

Google always care about their business. If they found something is affecting their business they just rid off the implementation.

This simply sucks, I didn't noticed that but tried to search some of my sites, and yes, all images gone :(

Other than the money aspect as they are going to move towards increasing AdWords CTR, I wonder if it also signals that G+ was a failure. Not just as a social network although it does have some very good groups on it like photographers and the like, but that the only people who are signing on to it are marketers (and some savvy business owners).

We've seen a 11% drop in traffic since this got introduced :(.
