No more domain privacy?

It is proposed that domains used for commercial purposes might no longer be eligible to use proxy registration services, and sites that run ads have been judged as commercial in domain name disputes.

This change is being pushed by US entertainment companies, who told Congressin March that privacy for domain registration should be allowed only in ?limited circumstances.?

But just in case privacy destroying laws do go into effect, get a pseudonym profile put together (US or off shore), with Paypal and CC to use to buy domains. Look for registrars that will let you purchase using Bitcoin or other alternative processors (these providers will likely not stress ID verification).

Not if you put false information for your address. Go and try buying a domain on Namecheap and see if you can't change the address information before you checkout.

True, but what is you need to buy let say 30 domains? Maybe the info is fake but all of your domain will point to that fake domain and address.

If I were to do this on a regular basis, then I would probably keep the information on my money site real and just use random information for the sites in my PBN. If this actually turns into a problem for PBN owners they can actually change the address on older domains.

I understand that it's not legal in some countries though.
