No Longer Using Google For Search

With these latest G updates I've finally been pushed to changing all my personal searching over to Bing.

The G search engine results are absolute junk right now, dominated mainly by 'big players' and irrelevant results.
I'll still be keeping and eye on my G SERP positions using a secondary web browser every now and then, but it will no longer be my 'go to' search engine when trying to find / research stuff.

To give you an idea of how big this change is for me, the last time I changed search engine was when Yahoo started using pop-up advertising... a long time ago!
This was when I changed to big G.

A lot of people on here seem to be sick of G's constant fiddling and SERP monopoly, so why not do the same?
Vote with your feet and change your home page to something else! :)

Bing is just so fugly, it reminds me of those search engines that are set as your default when you install software to convert videos from one format to another. Google search results are becoming fuck off annoying but. It seems the only results you get are wikipedia, youtube and amazon, in that order. If I wanted a youtube clip, why would I not just search youtube?

Ahh fuck it I'm going to Bing

Bing is terrible, but it's an understandable terrible. It's poor search results you expect from an emerging search engine, and yes, I would say they are still emerging and not quite ready yet.

Google search results, on the other hand, have gotten progressively worse and more commercial.

It's the difference between a rookie and a has-been

Your right, Bing isn't the greatest, but neither is Google by a long shot.

It used to be that Microsoft was seen as the bad guy and Google came along with the 'Don't be evil' mantra.
How the tables have turned...

I'm going to mix it up a bit and use different search engines on my main PC, tablet and phone and see which one sits best with me.
Think I'll put Duckduckgo on my phone for a while.

Google have lost the plot. They started out as a search engine service and now have moved into so many areas I get the feeling they have forgotten what their business is.
Cloud storage, blogging platform, office apps, web hosting, app development, Operating System developer (although I do like Andriod :), payment gateway, tablet/phone/gadgets... etc. What else do they want to monopolise?

No business can do all these things well, or be impartial in its interests, which is apparent with their latest incarnation of the SERP algo.
Google definitely seem to be setting themselves up for the hall of internet 'has-beens', right next to AOL, MySpace, etc ;)

whenever i search for something i use a flashlight ... also duckduckgo

Bing has lots of ugly sites ranking #1 for competitive keywords. Their algo must be terrible.

I do not believe you can simply stop using Google or the majority of its services. Thankfully, there are other search engines, which are still alive. At least we can be happy about that. Imagine a world where the only search engine is Google and it has no competition. I also vouch for DuckDuckGo. Perhaps give the old Exalead and Gigablast a try. Depending on what it is you are trying to find, you may go about an unorthodox way of finding it. Not simply Google. Good luck!

Bing would be great if they didnt load a huge random creative as the background for your search. How about a nice white page with a search box... Youknow, like google :p

But yeah, truth be told, i fucking loath google and their support for blue chip companies and negative SEO. If somebody wants to shoot matt cutts, i aint gonna stand in their way ;)

Well I've been using Bing all day on my PC and not had to turn to Google once, so far so good :)
Going to change my laptop to DuckDuckGo now...

I refuse to see the world through Google's blinkered eyes ;)

Google "God" and see how bias Google is.

I changed awhile ago, glad others are doing the same. Lot of pessimistic people saying it won't matter, won't change anything. That's all good, but I'm still doing my part and getting others to change. I like the Bing pictures as the homepage, for results I use bing and duckduck and I find good results. G might as well have a top 10 listing of it's favorite websites as a search for anything, it's going there anyway.

Bing is da bomb for porn videos!

Ive tried switching, but any time I need specific long tail searches or an image search, I go back to google.

I've found Bing's image search to be OK, but having said that I don't use it too much. Just the odd pic...

You either die the hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

If you want to indirectly fight google, you can click on Bing ads... Personally, I still use google because it helps me see who's ranking high, and what their site looks like.
