    LOL, did you actually read the first post? How to create the database is what he's asking. He bought a VPS without cPanel and doesn't know how to access mySQL without it. You're comment doesn't give him anykind of answer as to how to do that. lol

    @freeufcdotinfo - A VPS without a control panel is unmanaged and intended for advanced user types who know how to manage a server using shell and command line. If you don't know how to manage the VPS from shell then you're going to need some kind of control panel. If you don't want to pay extra for cPanel then you can try some free alternatives.

    I've always had cPanel so I've never had to deal with this myself, but if you don't want to pay extra for it you could try something like the 'adminer' that misulicus suggested.

    Or here's another free cPanel alternative I found by searching google:.

    Well, yes and no....

    I read the question as I can't load WP because I don't have CP. I assumed he was trying to upload a theme and had nothing to connect to.

    Sorry...my misunderstanding...

    It can happen to anyone. I've given answers myself to different questions than were actually asked.

    Yup, you are going to have to learn to use the command line.

    You will need to learn the command line even if you need to install a control panel.

    PM me if you need help setting this up.

    Just because there's no cpanel, doesn't mean they won't have some alternate available. If there isn't one, you first ask the host to create the DB for you.. and failing that, you can do it from the command line or install some other script.

    Webmin and Virtualmin, use them both. Webmin for linux control panel, virtualmin for web hosting control panel. They're both sister software.
    With virtualmin script you'll get all web hosting package installed to your vps easily. Anyway, virtualmin is a good cpanel alternative.

    Here and there
    just make a new PHP file that says:
    Code:
    <?php
    $con = mysql_connect("localhost","username","password");
    if (!$con)
      {
      die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error());
      }

    if (mysql_query("CREATE DATABASE wordpress_db",$con))
      {
      echo "Database created";
      }
    else
      {
      echo "Error creating database: " . mysql_error();
      }

    mysql_close($con);
    ?>
    upload it, and run it by going to the url. Make sure to delete it after though.
