Hi,
I want some images to work on, they should not be copyright protected. how can i get them and IS there any way to find out that a particular image is copy right protected or not...

You can buy the royalties of the images...like from shutterstock

Wow... finally a post I can contribute a useful answer to.

I usually use a site called "stock exchange"
<oh noes! I post use URLs yet>
Its w w w . sxc.hu

Is that a Hungarian domain? ... Its English text site either way.

They're not as polished as the Getty type ones - but then again they're free.

Although I have used others... I'll try and dig out the links later.

Cheers
VWN.

Their disclaimer in one of there images...
"

IMPORTANT!

SXC cannot be held responsible for any copyright violations, and cannot guarantee the legality of the Images stored in its system. If you want to make sure, always contact the photographers. You use the site and the photos at your own risk!"
However i assume that all those are free and i will not be sued :p

:eek:Scary stuff... but I guess they have to put that to cover themselves.

The other one I use is rgbstock.
Still can't post URLs but I'm sure you'll find it.

Cheers
VWN

yes thanx i found that.
but how do i understand that which image is copyrighted and which is not?
The one which has some kind of logo is copy right and one which has not is not protected? IS IT LIKE THIS?

Just because something is free, doesn't mean you're automatically granted permission to use it.

Is that definitely rgbstock, com you've found?
I don't see any icons denoting the photos license.

The paragraph on the home page says "All images on RGBStock.com are free for personal and commercial use." With the exception of high run prints etc.

I seem to remember the T&Cs being one of the more understandable ones when compared to other stock photo sites.

ohh sorry for misunderstanding...
i found exact site and there are no marks on pictures.
i was asking in general sense what we call a copyright protected? which has a logo?
how can i know if a specific image is copyright or not?

very few images using google... for a simple query

download any image u want... change some color or rotate it or something...

In google image search advanced options there is an option for reuse ok and stuff. Use those options to find Images that you can use without getting in trouble.

Thats what we do automated in our product :)

good tip and in addition to that and the two other sites mentioned earlier, i'd like to add a third: dreamstime, which means that anybody looing for free images now has a hefty total of four sources (incl the Google Images hack) to brighten up their blogs/sites:-

Code:
http://www.dreamstime.com/
http://www.rgbstock.com/
http://sxc.hu/
