No backlinks? None indexed?

Hey everyone,

I have this website and it's been about a week since I started posting on blogs and stuff for backlinks, but none are showing. Yahoo links shows 200, but google's indexed nada and backlinkwatch shows 2 measly backlinks. What is going wrong?!

Are these blogs nofollow or follow ? Also what is the page rank of the pages where you posted your links ? Also keep in mind that google needs more time to index the links and you may use some method to make search engines notice these links. Try pinging, bookmarking, rss submit. There are many threads here in BHW where you can read about indexing links.

I pinged most of them, bookmarked most of them and 90% of them are blogengine ****************. I've done this before lol, but nothing like this has happened. I'm definitely not sandboxed because I'm on the first page for a couple keywords.

Google will never show more than a small percentage of your backlinks. They do this on purpose and have said so. You will see more of them in your webmaster tools then when doing a link: search but still not all of them.

The best way to see if your links are getting indexed is to use something unique when building them. A unique username or unique phrase in any articles you are using. Then you can do a search for that unique username or phrase and see how many results you get. This will tell give you a pretty accurate count of how many of your links are actually getting indexed.

Google sucks for backlink checks, so if anyone is using them for it, stop right now.

Yahoo is one of the better backlink checkers, and so is backlink watch. However, you have to remember that even these tools will only show your backlinks once they have discovered them and indexed them in their own databases.

Finally, just because your backlinks don't show up in any of the tools does not mean that they are not there. The best thing to do is to continue to build your backlinks consistently.

Yeah, google hardly ever shows the majority of your backlinks. Check out the NBA website for example. Yahoo shows over a million links to the homepage, Google shows only 3,500.

So just keep an eye on the Yahoo stats, and don't stress about G.

It's a strange thing - for my site, they only post external links from two VERY closely related industry sites. Wonder if it is a filter based on similar topics..

BTW some times it takes more then a week to get indexed so keep working on it...
