Nine Grand for a Bicycle?

Again, we must see the point, is that there are "Groups" of people who think that something is of value to them and are willing to pay (Compared to those who think its worthless).

As evident here, some of you think cars or motorbikes can be bought with the same $9000. However, someone, is willing to plonk $9000 on it, and if a bike manufacturer is willing to sell it online and give a 10% affiliate commission. I bet some of you would want to be the person whose link is being clicked on eh?

Thats why we do what we do online. Our aim, at the end of the day, is to identify these groups, and try to sell them something :)

Sidenote

I have currently the following

Santa Cruz Heckler 2010 (Mash up of XTR/XT/SLX/Saint/Deore LX Discs yes its messy with a Talas 150 and RP2)
Iron Horse MK-III (Fox Float 140, RP2 Sram Noir, XT derailleurs, Deore shifters, Deore Discs)
Stevens Fluent (Fox 120 Evo, Rockshox Monach, Full XT everything)
Some old Eddy Merck aluminium frame with 105/Ultegra mixed
Pinarello Dogma 65.1 with Dura Ace DI 2 and Ultegra mixed
Juliana Juno (Wife's bike with XT/XTR bits RS Sektor and RP23), my only 27.5 bike.
2x Brompton 6 speeds
1 Birdy 8speed

And a few cheaper ones.

I'm one who sees irrational value in bikes and I think they ARE value for money. LOL.

$600 is still too much here, just like 9k for you.

My father bought me a new bike for school in just $60 and it was one coolest looking among all the schoolmate's bikes.

it was something like this:

Believe me, it was a tough one also. I miss those days.
Getting old feels bad :(

Those bikes will break on red/black off road trails. Not kidding.....

But I do agree, our first bikes always brought out a lot of fun.

True.

But mountains bikes are still cheaper here.

My wife actually never ended up buying one of those higher end bikes but I bought a low end of the higher end ones though.

Recently sold it though as the area we moved to is a tad too rural for that type of bike.

Dude, My "next" Mountain bike with my ideal setup will probably cost close to US$13,000 retail (with MSRP pricing). The wifey's current road bike has an identical setup to a TDF team bike. Frame alone is USD $5000 (thereabouts)

Generally, yes, Mountain bikes "are" cheaper but the sky's the limit for both disciplines.

I'm trying to think of a website name and sign up as affiliates for CRC, wiggle, bikebiz, cyclingexpress and a handful of others. Hopefully they approve my application.

U plonked on a tri bar on a road bike? If your new area is rural, get a CX bike? The newer ones with good geometry ride pretty well. Tough enough for XC bike parks and fast enough for tarmac blasts.

In here you can buy a good used bicycle for 15 USD only!

yea its a track bike, so no brake
you either slow your pedaling or you can skid like a hipster

Don't use hipster type leg braking if you take that to a velodrome, they'll kick you out!

I ride an old steel frame singlespeed and an ultegra equipped Bianchi. I built both bikes myself.

I'm not sure I'd ever want to buy a £10k bike but I'd sure love to have a go on one :)

oh man...theyd do much worse than just kick you out!
only time i skid is when im chillin out on the road or something, and even then very sparingly as i hate to waste my continentals
one thing that has always worried me about more expensive bikes is getting in some type of accident

Have you ridden velodromes? They're pretty wild!

I generally try and avoid accidents on my bike, my days of going insanely fast down hills are long gone. I know from a recent skateboarding accident that I take far too long to heal these days!

The 60mm profile carbon wheels retail for $2300.
BTW if that 2014 model was found new in a bike shop NOW, $5000 would ride it out the door.

some bicycle used by professionals worth more than 9k...
i remember once watched -Tour de france- saw a bicycle used by a team called -SKY- after i googled that bikes, I found that the cheapest one worth more than 9K...

like this one...
