I have been thinking lately about how to automate the research process for finding outreach targets for niche edits.

People sometimes mean different things when they talk about niche edits. I mean placing a link on an existing real website. Either paid or as part of your normal unpaid outreach.

My main concerns had been to automate the following:

  • find pages that are powerful, not domains (e.g. pages with good stats / links / traffic). Because often link vendors place links on domains that look good, but the actual page where the link is placed has no link juice
  • find pages that are topically relevant
  • make it easy to find a large number of potential targets and filter the best
I mostly wanted to automate this as I hate repetitive tasks but enjoy coding. All tools that I checked required manual labor to find a large number of potential targets.

I created a custom software that handles the above tasks for me. I can enter a list of seed keywords and get thousands of potential outreach targets that match my criteria. You get a list of relevant URLs and their metrics. You can also add your hunter account to directly find their email address. You could do it all manually, but now with the software, it takes just the time to create a seed list of keywords. A few minutes. The rest is done automatically. Of course, there are still some duds ending up in the list that might not be perfectly relevant, but mostly the quality of the results are pretty good.

Now my question is, how do you handle outreach for niche edits? Do you do it all manually? Or do you have some way to automate it? Because I was wondering if my currently purely internal software might be something that would be worth selling publicly. Right now it's just the backend, so creating a proper frontend would still be some work, so better to ask first if its even something that people would be interested in using.

well as I wrote its pure backend, so im right now just using it with command line locally on my PC. But I was thinking about creating an MVP than can be accessed online, if there is interest in it

I could JV with you and helps sell it, if you do go down that route ;)

Could be a simply GUI, doesn't need to be fancy.

We could sell as a SaaS product, as I've done that before and it can make a very nice recurring income. Needs a lot of marketing, but I've done it before for some other big SaaS sites.
