I don't think there's actually an easy way for anyone(guys at google or elsewhere) to tell the difference between niche edits and guest posts. Unless they have to start looking at dates which isn't an easy thing.
Not really. You can see if a link is a web 2.0 or a blog comment. You can't really see if the link is a niche or a guest post. There is no obvious footprint to detect if a link is a guest post unless the article has an author box at the end of the article. They are technically the same thing but we use different names. When Google looks at it, there is no way to tell that is a niche edit or a guest post or that website just naturally mentioned you.

Yea, but I don't think Google people will do that. Plus, when you edit old articles on your own site, you might throw an external link or two if new things came up. It is natural doesn't mean that the link is paid for or something. They are done in 2 different ways, but the result is the same: link in the article on the good authority website.
I skipped yes... The part where people from google go wo web.archive and checking my 400 articles when the link is placed.... I mean, come on...
