Heya guys, I saw this other post about making free sites for people and I thought that it was quite a nice idea. Now, I had an edit on this. What you do is this: 1. Place an ad in the newspaper/online/flyers etc. etc. about you making a free WP blog (just call it a site) 2. Get all of your orders in and choose out of these 2 things. 2.1 Let them sign up at Hostgator under your referral 2.2(ONLY IF YOU CAN HOST) let them sign up at your hosting. First month free and then let them pay a small fee (People that use these services won't use a lot of space so you can host a lot of them (Just give them 1GB of space)) 3. Set the site up and make it so it looks a little like this Code: hxxp://learn2site.com so it looks fancy but don't put too much time in to making it because you will be busy making those hundreds of sites. 4. Install the Adsense plugin (WP-Admin -> Plugins -> Add new -> Search "Adsense" -> install the All in One Adsense and YPN and set it up so there is are [468x60] ads (I prefer text but you can use images aswell) 5. Make sure you have your code in there ofcourse 6. Now deliver the site to them. You will end up with a site that looks a little like this: Code: hxxp://acaimonster.info YOU CAN EITHER DO THIS YOURSELF OR YOU CAN PAY PEOPLE TO MAKE THE SITE... ANYONE CAN DO THIS IF YOU KNOW HOW TO! The way we make money out of this. 1. They will either renew with Hostgator 2. They will renew with your "Cheap" hosting 3. People will click the ads 4. They can pay you for support This ends up as a nice, not 2 big, but working income every month. Feedback is appreciated. Ciao, JD
Either way it's still a nice idea. I just got my first $60 liquidweb referral so yeah this is a fucking awesome plan. The people that want a free site built for them will presumably have no idea anyway.
I like the idea of putting your ads on their site. If you're creating it for them, then it's simply apart of the template. Get 50 customers and you have 50 sites that has your adsense on it. And the best part about it is, they are doing the promotion.
Be careful with adsense on their sites though. Never know when they're gonna violate ToS. I'd stick to adbrite or aff ads.
I've done this with 10 sites to test it out and they all paid me for more hosting and the adsense money is good 2! (let them pay 5$ a month for 1GB of space and 3/10 told their friends about me aswell!
My little addition to this model: I give away the free website, a month free of web hosting. Then charge them $4.95 a month, with discounts for paying 6, 12 months. This is all done with my hostgator reseller's account. $24 a month. What you get with it though is: a program to do accounting and send invoices, buy domains for about $10 (anything more is profit)... list goes on and on. But I like this way because you get residual income every month. Plus, at the bottom of every page I add a link to my actual web design company. So that's about the same but what I do is edit their administration area (I use joomla) and provide "partner deals" for them. So it'll be a clickbank link to ask.com, miva, seo, just upsell them on other products. You wont retire on this little extra cash, but you can at least buy a few rounds of drinks.
