Next Time Its Raining... Make Quick Cash

So I got this idea when me and my ex girlfriend where talking today about football and the rain. She told me that local businesses where paying $4.99 wholesale for poncho's for the college football games and the fans where paying around $6.99 for the same ponchos. Well I got to thinking what if you got a vendors license for $50-75 for your county and got your hustle on.

So next I went to google and found disposable rain wear... I found a site that you are to buy rain ponchos with hoods for a max of $1.60 a piece and a low in bulk of $0.79. [ Will Input The Link At Bottom Of Post ] Well if you want to do this the easy way on the day of the rainy college football game go to local stores such as Walmart, Ingles, Bilo, Etc. pretty much any grocery store and ask if they want to buy these ponchos. When they as for a price say around $4.00 a piece for them. If you buy a quantity of 500 for $1.15 a piece the mark up you will give is $3.47. Now if they say they want to buy every poncho then you are in luck and will make $1735 and only spend $575. Pretty good huh? I could see this profitable if you have a couple hundred extra to spend or even more profitable if you have thousands to spend. If it doesn't rain for the game throw them in your closet for a "rainy" day ha.

Now if you want to go the hard way but better mark up you could stand outside the game with a booth since you have a vendors license and sell these for $6-7 a piece and make bank also. I really don't think it will make you as much as selling them to the stores but its an idea. I hope this helps anyone who enjoys money as much as me and also a rainy day. Cheers everyone

Good idea but I don't think businesses like wal-mart will actually buy panchos... You would probably have to go to some smaller business that doesn't order them but need them.

lol this idea is also in an ebook i recently read except it said buy the ponchos from dollar general for a dollar

there is a market for this, but tis tougher then the posting might think. Also huge lol to think that WALMART is going to buy stock off of you. On a related night there was a guy who was selling umberllas out of a vending machine. maybe do this idea and put em in vending machines and get the vending machines put into the stadium? ur gold then, but will need some luck/skill getting ur machine in there

Your better off just peddling them yourselves at the stadiums on a rainy day.

I have thought about this myself when i have been at big outdoor sporting events - lately there has been a lot of days where it has rained more or was not predicted by the forecasts so dont bring rain coats or waterproof gear.

I have seen the ponchos sell at discount retail stores for like $2-$3 each so guess if you bought a big lot of them you charge twice what you paid - stand out the front of the game and hope the cold, wet people buy them out of desparation.

Would double your investment but then again that ROI is achievable online without leaving the comfort of your home so may not be worth the trouble unless you can get them cheap like $1-$2 max to get decent roi. Could easy sell them $5 per each.

You may say this but when all the stores in your area are sold out of Ponchos and are looking to make money yes Walmart will give the money to get a nice ROI.

Buy Cheap umbrellas and let companies pay you to advertise on them, give them a away for free.

I was thinking about twisting this idea some more and making it automated... tell the university / concert hall that is in the wet weather that you will pay them $1 every poncho sold at their event. Once you have bargained a price with them bring in a vending machine, the ones that you watch the candy drop from at schools, works, etc and stuff it with ponchos. The link I gave in my first post has the ponchos coming in flat waterproof bags. So now you load the vending machine with these and place the vending machine right outside the event under an overhand or some sort of dry area. Now you have automated the method till the ponchos run out then you will need to refill but I do think you could hold anywhere between 100-200 ponchos in the machine at a time which means you have made $400-800 if you make a deal for a $1 with the event holder. If you want to look you can find used vending machines like the ones I am saying on Google for anywhere between $500-1350.

Nice idea, you can twist it to suit any location or event.

Now if only it would rain..... We've had a little drought for the past few years here.

Well since your in a drought then buy and sell sunscreen. Did a product search and found 3oz. bottles for under $1. Like you said yourself twist the method. Anyways we have had a drought too but then in last 2 weeks the south has decided to flood so we are good on rain here. You can have some of ours.

Yeah businesses aren't just going to throw down a ton of money on ponchos. Sorry, it won't work. However, you can try going to the game (We have UConn season tickets; it costs $12 for parking/game and the lots open 4 hrs before gametime)...go on a rainy day with these ponchos and just walk around the parking lots selling them. It'll work...(however finding a way to carry tens and hundreds of ponchos?)
