Next best browser after Ffox?

Okay, so I used to use Chrome as my browser til I read a thread here and got to thinking - is Big G calling home while I'm blackhatting? If so, what data is being sent to them?

So I switched back to Firefox. But I was running WireShark this afternoon for something else and I noticed that Firefox is making calls to google as part of a "safe browsing" campaign or some crap like that.

So now I am paranoid about using Firefox for blackhatting.

Obviously IE is not an option. Tor or any Tor-based browser will blow dead bear in terms of performance.

Any suggestions for an alternate browser? Or any thoughts if I'm being too paranoid?

You can turn it off in chrome;

They're pretty straight forward about it. Same with the plugins for chrome.
You can download ad-blocker from there website even though it's costing them revenue.

Also you can turn off the use of google dns pre-fetching, and turn off the build in malware and phishing protection, that calls 'home' to check with the database if a page is infected.
They are all in the under the hood tab and they can be disabled by unchecking the box, making it completely detached form google.

Just a little footnote;
It's just a company that sells adds.
It doesn't have teams of people spying on you. lol.

You know what? . . . I don't think it really matters. The Feds are much too busy chasing Terrorists, ID Thieves, Pedophiles, and Corporate & Federal Website hackers to worry about our little Black Hat escapades. At least that's my take on it. I have personally never seen or known anyone who was truly busted by the Feds for blackhatting.

I mean, okay . . . Google may have info on us, but there are much higher priorities for the Feds than us. We are just nickels and dimes. Just small game and not even worth the hunt.

I use Chrome & FF. People tell me Opera is good too.

Wiz is right, but if you're that paranoid, use www.startpage.com for your searches.
 
Lol reminds me when I first started using google chrome. I loved how responsive and quick it was and no matter how many bootleg films, music downloads and windows I had running it was so relaible and crash resistant.

One day I accidently found the "ingognito button" Wow I thought sounds cool.

A few days later I was browsing these very forums and I noticed an unusal looking icon on the upper left corner of the browser window!

If you know chrome you'll know what im talking about. However at the time I was certain, my brand new browser had been hijicked and I was certain I had been invected with spyware and my and after endless searches of Google found out it was actually the google ingognito icon.... D'oh ;)


You gotta admit though the icon does look well shifty!

They probably have scrapers looking for hot words instead of looking at every single keyword everybody typed in and then I'm sure they could trace it back eventually to whoever the hot word came from unless they're under some good protection
 
I use chrome if they are spying on me they better spy for a lonnnnng time to figure out what I am doing.
 
If you want a good social browser for facebook, youtube, twitter etc you should give flock a go. It makes everything quicker

My primary browser is FF and I use opera in different purposes.
What I like about opera is that its very multi tasking browser..
It can download torrent files and can browse wap sites without any emulator..

I rarely use flock..I use safari for my freelancing job..
IE is for my youtube viewing...
 
I saw a special on tv about Google and they freely admit to spying on everybody. They said they can only collect information if you are logged in. If you are not logged in you are just another general statistic.
 
Also remember - 99% of what is considered blackhat is NOT illegal. It might seem unfair to others to automate stuff, or use tricks to drive traffic, but its not against the law.

Sure if you are scamming people by lying about a product then stealing their money, that is gonna get you busted, or blasting emails away in violation of CAN-SPAM you probably gonna get caught too.

Most of us just want traffic to sell stuff, whether its CPA conversions or affiliate sales. Why do it the hard way when you can blackhat it?

The Feds are way too busy using "terrorism" as an excuse to pry into everyone's personal life. Guilty or not... :eek:
 
Opera is MILES ahead. :)

I have more than 20 tabs open usually and I can 't see any speed decrease! :D

I 've been using it since 2000 and I 'm not looking back.
 
I like 'em all...including Safari for PC.

I mostly use Firefox becuase of the cool plugins/extensions, mostly Adblock Plus, Piclens (aka Cooliris), Prefbar toolbar, RIP, Noscript and Downloadhelper for youtube. It has the most options, I think, but is no longer the fastest IIRC.
