News Paper Ads + Amazon + Holidays

Here is 2 methods that involve offline (news paper ads) and online (amazon). As everyone knows by now, I shoot straight to the point, so here it is.


Method 1 (classified sales ad)

1. Create a website based around 1 particular top selling product.
2. Go to amazon, find the product and get the link
3. Find a newspaper in a large city and place a classified ad (usually between $50 - $100 for 10 days)
4. Check your amazon account daily once the ad starts running

Method 2 (circulars/inserts)

1. Create a webstore based on several top selling products
2. Go to amazon and get links for all products
3. Go to your local records building and obtain a DBA (usually about $15)
4. Go to Irs.gov and obtain an ein (This step and step 3 may be required for this type of ad)
5. Find a newspaper in a large city
6. Contact their advertising department and inquire about circular/insert advertising (this may cost alot more, but is worth it)
7. Place the ad
8. Once the ad starts, check your amazon account daily

Newspapers are great!!! (Believe it or not lots of people still read the paper version lol - but especially for the holidays! - because they love to see the sales flyers)

I will add that another quick way to get some good coverage is to post a few adds to craigslist with links pointing to your site. Something like "I found this great site while I was shopping for my nephiew's birthday and with christmas comin up I thought i'd share. They have some great deals on toys and I found a cool train that he loved. I hope this saves somebody some money." And link to your site. Of course you have to change the wording to be appropriate and make sure to post it in the appropriate section of craigslist. Do this for 3 or 4 major cities and the money will come in.
