Hi,

I'm new here.

I want to get your comments or suggestions if you can earn money from a news aggregator site? Basically, a news hub where news from different sources is on one website.

There are credits on every post like the source link and the writer.

I have a WordPress plugin that imports news from different site sources

Do you think this is scalable and would I not encounter problems in the future?

If you have a WP plugin that does it, can't hurt to try.
Just buy cheap hosting and see how it goes.
I doubt you'd encounter problems if you give credit and link to the original articles.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'll give it a try and update this thing afterward.

Yes, I do have the tool though, it automated posting. I just have to paste the sources and set up frequency posting.
 
If you are fetching content from other website, you should give a canonical link back to them apart from giving actual backlink link and credit. This should protect you from DMCA notice and copyright claims. If you don't know anything about canonical url's then do a little research on Google.

The Wordpress plugin that you are using may have the facility to assign canonical url's to the fetched content. If not then try a plugin named wprssaggregator which is a paid plugin.


On a sidenote, if you are building a website with fetched content, you will need thousands of articles to be able to pull decent traffic because Google will still give prominence to the original article source website and they will rank above you for that piece of content.

What aggregator did you use? How has it been working? Been looking for soemthing as well.
 
Bump. Any news so far? Anyone in a similar situation? I've been thinking about starting it
 
That method was around a decade ago. Don't waste your time on that method unless you are authorized to use your sources.
AI can do a better job.
 
A little update on this one.

I used the domain that was approved by google adsense. Though there was traffic, the amount of ad rev is too little. I made $2 for 1 month. When you're starting I think it's kinda like that and one poster above is right that you need loads of content to rank.

What I do is I also used a site called dlvr.it where it will share the article to different social media sites. That's where I get my traffic from from.

Right now, I put the site in maintenance mode as it consumes so much hosting resources having to pull so much stuff online from different sources.

you need to research copyright. consequently, this site will reduce the hits of other sites

Congrats!
$2 for the first month kinda checks out considering the area (adsense). This takes more trial and error to perfect things. So it helps to have multiple adsense accs.

Try ezoic next time, since you already qualify for adsense (which is one of their requirements). I heard they pay better.
 
how did you get approved for an adsense account? They havent accepted news agg sites for years? Would love to know...
