Guys,

I'm yet to develop my SEO skills so I want to get some feedback on the situation:

* An article page is published on a website;
* Gains traffic, climbs up to 4.4 SERP;
* Peeks and stars falling down daily;

Does this mean that content is poor? The keyword competition is nearly zero on this topic and the competitors are not even a niche sites but some "news" websites not focusing on the same topic. I'm losing positions to old articles from 2010-2015 so I know for sure that it's not something that THEY did.

Any insights would be appreciated!

Doesn't seem like much of a decline to me. It's just 1.5 spot. You could lose a couple links, someone outranked you, etc. This is pretty common. You need to build link continuously.

Maybe this excerpt does not draw a full picture.

The main keywords are in decline for the past two weeks. My SEO reporting tools are showing loss every day from 1 to 3, from 3 to 5, from 5 to 8 positions. My competitors did nothing.

The link building is rather tricky in such a narrow niche or (my country entirely as the matter of fact). For this specific website I can barely think of a decent method for continuous link strategy.

Well I just looked at the picture and seems completely normal to me. And also, if you are trying to rank in a country specific Google, the algorithm there is in a stone age, so whatever links might be good enough and provide a decent push.

Very normal behavior. Initial rankings rarely stay for good.

What will probably happen is that the page will shoot back to the initial position (or even higher at like #3ish) any moment. Alternatively, you might get lower position but it will stabilize

I have an authority site and it happens all the time for new content. In fact, I've been monitoring WikiHow for sometime and it happens there too.

It's simply Google's test(s) and everyone must go thru them.

There was a possible google algo update since 12th of Dec, maybe something with that in case you see older articles fading away, I read something similar elsewhere in the comments. However, it might be just losing links, competition...

Thanks don chino!

There is a drop correlating with Dec 12 (red arrow). Any more details or reading sources on this update?

when the last time you even updated that website with content and fresh web 2.0 links?

what the diffrence between you and your compitition .

you need to audit your compitition then build a better website or add better content , images, video , back links , socail media .

gd luck

The website is relatively new, I started it in August. What you see here in these graphs is actually fresh, original content being published ~2 months ago, rising up to 4.4 avg pos. and then going down gradually.

Could you please elaborate on web 2.0 links?
