Newbie Questions

Hey! I'm new to IM and would want to know 2 things.

1. Since I'm new here I know I have to read a lot and take in a lot
of information. Any advice on what's most important to read?
Some kind of foundations or something.

2. Are there any different newbie methods one can try
to start seeing results in a fair amount of time? I'm not talking
huge money, but just something that makes you go "oh, it's really possible".

Someone made a thread a while back with a ton of links to other threads about making money as a noob (I can't remember the name, if someone else knows what I'm talking about, please link him to it). If you really really want to earn money, article writing can get you a few bucks to get you started.
