Somebody on WF showed a 'technique' whereby you can get backlinks if you create a new username and simply add your website to the Profile, and you don't need to post a thing either. My question is, does this count at all? The list of forums should be ******** based on what she said and have a higher PR apparently.
Thanks for any insights on this, even if the answer is 'common sense' for most, please don't slam me, for newbies like me, nothing is common sense yet ;)

I don't know the answer to your question but that process seems like a lot of work for not much bang for your buck.... just my 2 cents.

It can get you a backlink if you want. All profile pages are PR0 so there.... The high PR are only homepage and old threads.

This is what I was wondering as well. However, when I asked the person this question, she said (quote):
It was the same for just about every one of the links I used for my article that I "tested" these links with. The site is High PR; the place I left my link was often a brand new page (automatically has no PR), or lower PR than the domain. My article, when I tested it a few hours ago, is #22 out of more than 11 million in the Google search index. And yet, my article has thousands of links FEWER than most of the sites listed for the keyword! That means that the links I am using for backlinks have a tremendous amount of value.

That's why I actually came here to ask, because I heard two conflicting things related to this...

maybe depends on the forum you use.

but hey I'd had my days when my member profile in flixya showed up 3rd in search results for the keyword "daffy" which seems to be quite costly now..
