Hello everyone !

Sorry in advance if this question is stupid but I'm a beginner in SEO and I couldn't find a decent answer.

I'm currently trying to find some keywords for an informational article. There's one that I found, main KW is low volume (320 searches/month) and it looked like it could be a good keyword for my low authority site.

Anyway, here's the thing. The first result in the SERP for this result is not even trying to rank on this keyword (by that I mean that its content is not directed towards this KW mainly and does not really answer the user intent). Its main KW is a KW with ~6K searches, and there are results with decent DAs trying to rank for the ~320 searches KW with way better content.

And, what I don't get either: this page is also ranking 1st for the ~6k KW search, while having a quite low quality content on the page with barely 400 words !? The top results in the SERP have all been there for a while, they have average DAs (but not worst) and wayyyy better content, while also having a better backlink profile.

I don't get it, any clue?

Then your evaluation is most likely off. Based on what do you judge the quality of the content? If you evaluate the content the same way as you evaluate the actual site power and backlink profile, by DA, then goodness me.

Well, I'm trying my best with what I know at the moment, which is not much. I tried comparing various metrics that I could find using Semrush & Moz for the backlinks, keywords, and domain authority. For the content I read the top SERP results and authority/high EAT sites, in my native language (which this site is) and for the same queries in english to try to get a decent knowledge of the topic, as well as trying to have a better understanding of the user intent for these queries.

Obviously my evaluation is off, as I wrote I'm completely aware of beeing a beginner and lacking knowledge, but I also try to find answers by myself and here I don't know what I could have missed or what to look for.

I can not say what's the exact reason why your site won't rank without knowing the keywords, your site, and competitor site.
But I would like to clarify a few things that listed below.

Did you use the relevant keyword of your target keyword in your webpage?
You can check the readability of both sites, the one which ranking already and your site.

I'm not trying to rank for these KWs yet, I'm trying to understand why this page is ranking this high for these 2 KWs as I'm trying to figure out the correct user intent and KWs to write an article about them.

More than likely hidden PBNs from my perspective
