Newbie Q about Pr*Storm

OK, please help me to understand this.

Say I have a list of 50 niche related urls (awStats sites).
What is the difference between:

1. using PrStorm to hit all 50
2. adding the 50 links to a links page on my site and clicking them from diff ips
3. using RefControl with my firefox and just visiting the 50 urls.

All 3 methods will show up in the 50 url's referral logs, right? Will all 3 result in backlinks to my site? I'm a little fuzzy here.

OK, I've found a partial answer myself:

Looking at the last post, the net*concepts guy had used refControl to alter the refferal in his header. Then he visited seo*blackhat and his altered referral showed up in their logs. If they're an awStats type site, then he's gotten automatic backlink as well, right?

That's real spooky, I was just about to post the very same question, lucky I did a forum search first

I see no reason why doing this manually wouldn't work and is probably better than using the default list thats comes with PR Storm, especially if you find sites within your niche.

Still, I am interested to hear what PRStorm users think.

But using a browser has nothing to do with PRStorm.

following up here, could someone fill in for me about "doing it the hard way" - by hard coding links into your site and clicking through to sites posted on lists here - is this completely worthless for getting aw-stats backlinks?

It works. So does using the Firefox plugin. I'm testing to see which works best right now. I'm too chicken to do PR*Storm and I'm trying to stay under G's radar so the links page is in my robots.txt file. I'm giving it the old fashioned one-two punch...clicking thru and then sending reciprical requests if they (the niche related sites I'm targeting) aren't aw-stats sites.
