Greetings.

I am very new to the SEO/IM world. My friend recommended it to me about a week ago. Unfortunately he went MIA. Since then I've been doing research by watching Sourcewave videos. I have a few questions that I would greatly appreciate if answered.

He told me to get Tumblr, blogspot and other "web2.0" sites that are abandoned and recreate them for FREE. From my understanding I would use these to link back to my "money site"

Here are my questions after doing some research.

1. Where would one get PBN's people speak of. (Free web 2.0 ones or otherwise). I'm just trying to get anything so I can start ranking pages to get started.
2. How would a "money site" look? Would it be a site with blogs on a subject you're familiar with?
3. He tells me only get free stuff. However, I do have a decent amount of money to begin with. Becker from Sourcewave recommends to buy links and PBN's. And I am willing to make investments if it's more efficient.

At this point I'm mainly looking for the best way people acquire PBN's and domains. Free or paid.

You can build PBNs yourself but if you've never done it before it's going to be quite time consuming. A money site can look like anything. All it means is that that is where you're pointing all your links to because you have some type of offer whether it's Amazon products or CPA that you want to make money off of. Building web 2.0s can be a great way to rank a money site but as I previously said, it takes time to learn how and then to actually build them.
 
You can build or buy a PBN, its nothing more than a "fake" site for SEO.

Your money site is slang for your website you're trying to rank.

PBNs are gonna definitely not be free. You can build web2.0 links to start if you don't have the cash. Thats a free option.
 
A good PBN with powerful domains is gonna pack more link juice than web 2.0 sites.
But both are a good idea, PBNs are more risky and time consuming to setup.

P.S. I would advise you to do more research and get a better understanding of black hat seo before you do anything, otherwise you are gonna waste time and money.

thanks everyone. What about the Googles crackdown on PBNs? Is this more likely to happen if I buy or build my own?

Very true. With your own PBN, you can remove the links immediately (because you know where you placed them) when trouble arises. Plus you know the quality of the links pointing to your money site.

Im in the process of researching still. So I just have a question on the general outline of PBNs.

1. So each PBN is separate domain names that have backlinks from the past correct? So if I buy a PBN, I'm getting a list of 3-5 (or whatever the amount is) domain names? So the structure is PBN > Website > Separate pages within the website.

2. If I bought a PBN would I need fewer to of them to get my money site to rank? (vs if I recreated abandoned web2.0 site for free)

3. If I wanted to recreate web2.0 sites for FREE, how would I go about doing it? (where would I go, etc)
