Newbie Limits

Although I realize we were all noobs at one time, recently the influx of uber noobs warrants these suggestions from me.

1.) The members download area is not visible to them for thirty days or they have to become donors coupled with x number of quality posts.

2.) They cannot request anything in the first thirty days at all. There is more than enough information here to keep anybody busy for the first 30 days.

3.) One question about 'How do I make money' in any section equates to an automatic seven day cooling off period. Or "booted and scooted' if it is a repeat offense.

4.) One question about 'Where is the CS section' results in the same seven day cooling off period. Or "booted and scooted" if it is a repeat offense.

5.) Absolutely any affiliate links in a post for any reason, a seven day cooling off period. Or "booted and scooted" if it is a repeat offense.

6.)If anybody asks for a 'review copy' of anything published here, they are banned and sent back to their regular forum. No questions asked. The 'boot and the scoot' method.

7.) Asking for 'thanks' or 'rep' in any way, shape, or form. Most of us will give it if the material is worth it. The 'boot and the scoot' method.

8.) Anybody adding another member to the 'shit list' without going through the proper channels and trying to work it out with the other member first. The 'boot and scoot' method should apply here also.

9.) Aggravating me in any way. lol. I know I would be alone very quickly. Not a good idea in a sense of forum cohesiveness.

10.) Not using the forum's or g00gle search before asking a question before posting. If one more person posts about where to find proxies or the best proxies, I swear to Gosh, I will be bald from his day forward.

I know this may seem harsh to some of you, but this foolishness is starting to turn the greatest forum in the world into DP. Most of us don't want to see that happen. And I, for one, am tired of reading this nonsense. When we have members asking 'What is wordpress', it is time to fight back IMHO.

I am not trying to be an arse, but it is unbelievable right now. I know the mods/admins do a great job, but if all our members know upfront that if they do any of this nonsence, they will be 'booted and scooted'. Maybe they may think twice about doing it.

I agree with you completely and second this motion, it is really getting out of hand with these n00bs, also their DP attitude is something that is really annoying, their even to freaking lazy to download a 4 page e-book, or giving uploaders a hard time when the info isnt enough for them.

even though I'm a noob.. i agree there needs to be more rules.. and I agree there are just to many "whats the best proxy?' or "best way to make money for a noob?"..

I say just give them access to the members download section and the money making section for the first 30 days with no posting or PM abilities. After their first 10 posts, you would know if they should be here or not.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I've actually been contemplating quite a few of these (or something similar) for some time now. We've been discussing some things behind the scenes that are going to shake things up around here a bit, but in the end it will be for the best.

Which is why there are 20,000+ other members to give feedback on the new ones.

ya maybe not checking every person.. but making it so you cant post a thread in most of the forum for like 30 days.. so they have to use the search button...

You know, you would be a rich kid if you got paid for pointing out the obvious in threads. You are the king of that! I didn't say put a set limit on 10 posts or anything of the nature. My point was that if you had to spend 30 days looking at threads that teach you, use the search and download all the shitty ebooks that your heart desired that if your first few posts were how do i do this and that, people would see a pattern. That's it, that's all. I think the rest of the people in the thread got this point but I thought that I would take the time to hold your hand a little on it.

It's definitely difficult to balance it all out. We need the newbies coming in, not only for fresh ideas but also to help pay for hosting costs and improvements (donations). A large portion of our user base came here after looking for a particular download. If we take away too many privileges from the noobs, they may buck and decide to go elsewhere. At the same time, if we give them too much freedom, they may ruin the place.

I suppose it's kind of like the human population / civilization in general lol.

Which is why I suggest they get what they came for. Everyone protects the downloads like they are gold when most of the stuff you can find for free on a dozen other sites. I say give it to them and let them weed themselves out after they get their ebooks.

As it stands we have itrader, rep, thanks, report, pm, email etc to report members for good and bad. It isn't a stretch to ask members to help out with reporting people that waste time. It wouldn't be hard. Guys spend 10mins to flame someone for asking a stupid question so why not click a button?
