Hey everyone!

I’m new to this forum and really excited to join the community. I’ve been lurking for a while, and now that I’m diving in, I’m looking forward to learning from you all and contributing as I go.

I’m particularly interested in buying aged domains, and I wanted to ask for some tips and tricks from those of you who have experience in this area. What should I be looking out for before making a purchase? I know factors like spam score, traffic, abused, and past history are important, but I’m sure there are more hidden gems of advice that I haven’t considered.

Any suggestions on where to buy, what tools to use for research, or things to avoid would be greatly appreciated!
Maybe like a checklist before buying an aged domain might be help ^^

You're on the right direction, I would also suggest you check its backlink profile, which domains are linking to it and if they are link farms or real sites

So u mean by we need to avoid if any link farms domain linked into the aged domain? And is there any tips like metric / tool we can use to check it?
 
@Nargil list contains everything you need, well done,

I ususally start with checking the domain traffic history using Semrush 'Domain Overview', then 'Organic research',
It just makes most of the spam easier to spot & could give you an idea if the domain could be potentially penalized or any good,

Usually any domains used for casinos, pharma, adults, etc... as a money-site/PBN will be ranking for some of these niches keywords and it will be shown,
If the domain was ranking for any foregin language/country as well, especially Indonesia, Korea, etc... it's a good sign to skip directly,
The same for mass publshing (churn & burn), it would be just a spike in traffic for a month+- followed by a total drop, again that's a big red flag,
And ofc, any sudden direct drops could be a sign for a penalty, especially if the website was still hosted based on the wayback data,

I would additionally check the domain previous ranking keywords and their diffuculty according to Semrush,

1. it would give me an estimation of how good the domain profile is, especially if the domain was ranking well in the last year+-,
Ofc, SEO some links were doing well a few years back in time which won't make any difference today,
But if the domain was ranking for some competitive keywords and have solid geniune links later when checking,
They're probably still going to make the work today, not something to totally rely on tho, you'll still need to check the backlink profile,

2. it would give me a direct idea about the niche before checking the waybackmachine,
Also, a personal preference for me is to skip any domain that hasn't been ranking for any keywords for a very long time (4-6 years+),
It's not a must, but it makes sense with the previous idea (1), and it simply has less timeframe and chances to be spammed in any ways,
Again, it's not a must, some domains kept hold by the companies for longer periods,
But more useful when you know that the domain was expired or went into auctions recently

okayy i appreciate ur advices, maybe what should be the next step after acquiring the aged domain we want? Should we use it right away or hold onto it for a while? Do you have any suggestions?

I've reviewed your checklist, and it's a good one, but its focus is on domains for PBN. My goal, however, is to choose a quality aged domain that has good traffic, hasn't been penalized, and has strong, non-spammy backlinks and referring domains (RD). After that, I want to use it for general keywords related to a gambling site, like 'online slots,' 'best slots,' etc ( local language ).
 
Choosing an expired domain on the parameters of the matter is very simple, and there are no problems and hidden pitfalls, everything has long been explained and written about it.

Breakdowns begin when the code domain was bought by spammers creating dorvei and was killed in 2 days. You will not see anywhere neither content nor links that were there on the dorway, no service does not have time to track them.

And buy such a domain is a guaranteed waste of money. Only experience and intuition can not buy such a domain.
 
1) Use services like dropcatch, snapnames, catch.club, I think backorders and fresh auctions from backorder services give you the best value, compared to domain sellers

2) Get expired domains of your niche, and in any case rebuild the site around the niche that originally got all the backlinks

3) Check on web archive that the domain has not been abused too much before, unless you just want a PBN. But if you want to make money site, it should be freshly dropped.

What matters most:
- Niche-relevant
- Freshly dropped and possibly was getting traffic just until recently
- Powerful backlinks
 
If you are going to buy aged domain make sure to focus on spam score, traffic levels, and the domain's past history.
 
While looking for a website make sure that it does not have any major drops in traffic over the past 6 months.
 
The history of an aged domain is the most important thing you need to check before you purchase the doman, if the domain was abused before, it's most likely being penalized by google even if there is no manul action in GSC.
The second thing is the backlink profile, more backlinks from authority sites are preferred.
The rest factors are not that as important as they look like.

There are certain sites for checking domain quality. buy it on namecheap
