Newbie building a website

So next week I have 2 weeks off in these 2 weeks I will be creating a website for a specific niche I already got my keywords etc figured out.

I stil have some questions though:

When I did my keyword research with Google Adwords alot of the times it said that the competition is high so I googled the exact keyword and in some cases I came on random off topic websites and pinterest pages as first results... Is it just me or is Adwords wrong. I have already read people complaining about it...? What would be a good alternative to check if the competition is high for that keyword or not?

When I buy/create backlinks should they all be linking to the homepage/landing page of my website or is it better to have different backlinks, linking to different pages on my websites?

I will be monetizing my website with CB and maybe adsense... My niche is pretty uncommon there's not alot or even no adsense ads related to my niche I'm pretty sure this will mean I would get less clicks on ads but does it also mean that I would get paid less per click? Because the traffic is not really targeted?

What are the best SEO services? I know there are plenty on bhw and fiverr. Do XRumer blasts work?

If you have any tips, do's or dont's or mistakes you made when you were newbie Please tell me I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

The competition in adwords is for bidding.

Download free trail of market samurai and check a tutorial video about it. It isn't that hard to understand.
Don't spam your website with xrumer or gsa. Instead use tier 1 web 2.0's to create a buffer. If you find out with market samurai that the competition is low you should be alright with two tiers (web 2.0 and blasting).

Like SamLewis said, google keywords tool will give you an idea of the competition for adwords and not the competition from other sites in the SERP's.

If you don't see too much competition in the SERP's for your keywords, I'd say go for it. If you want a better tool to give you a better idea, I'd recommend Open Site Explorer to look for anchor text's that contain your keyword.

Do's:
Post lot's of awesome content on the that is engaging and 100% handwritten and unique.
Link the site to all your social media profiles and do regular updates that are interesting (infographics etc) to generate a following
Do post link's your site on relevant directories but avoid using sites that google may consider spammy (I recommend you research into this)

Don't:
Buy lots of fiverr gigs promising 1000's of backlinks, 1000's of directory listings and spun articles etc. rather do it manually or pay someone else to do it for you.

Rather have your site grow organically or pay for a premium SEO service, blackhat SEO can work but often the results are shortlived, invest in quality content and SEO and you are adding value to your site over the long-term.

Dont look at the competition in the adwords tool, its not for SERP competition.

look and see if the top sites target the keyword with their onpage seo and see if the keyword is in the url.

After that check the backlink profile.

They should link to pages with the relevant keywords.

But better yet: They should link to pages that you can actually monetize. Try to limit the number of times a visitor has to click the mouse button before conversion.

The simplest thing to do is to manually build quality backlinks in a steady but sustainable rate, say 10 a day for a month. In many cases you can double up and use an authority page to link to both the website main or content page, and also to a Web 2.0 page pointing to the site page. This will help you rank the webpage for the keyword, and the property for that keyword, thereby doubling the ranking juice.

To manually drip in the links, you could use the Google Alerts method as a guide, or throw your own footprints into Google search ("keyword"+"date"+webpage source). Sites like dropmylink.com already have current footprints available to speed things up.

Don't focus to get backlink for homepage alone, try to get for other pages too with the apt keywords. Backlinks are the #1 for better ranking of your website. So make good number of quality backlinks.
