Hi Everyone,

I posted this question in the blogging section as it seemed the most appropriate, although I got some good replies regarding what topics I should cover, they didn't really answer my keyword and links questions.

I'm really getting confused over article writing, I have my own website selling adult products and have written 3 articles so far with links back to my products but I'm really getting confused with the keyword strategy.

In future articles should I be using keywords that appear in my product title/ product description/ meta title or meta description? Or have I got it that wrong?

Then I see people saying to use software to search for the latest keywords and use these but if I haven't got these keywords on my site, then its pointless using these, isn't it?

Also when you spin an article to put on another site, do you include product links back to your own site?

I'm writing relevant articles about the history of sex toys which I hope my customers/readers want to read.

Sorry if these seem like stupid questions but it has me confused.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

there's nothing confusing. You write articles around keywords that have search volume, there's no point in making content that no one will ever see it. If you've already created content around topics (keywords) that no one searches for let it stay there, but start making content around keywords that people actually search for.

And yes, when you post articles on other websites you obviously want to include links pointing back to your site, otherwise what's the point in giving strangers free content (even if it's spun) ??

As the guy above mentioned just write with keywords related to your niche with high search volume

If you’re selling adult products, it’s very tempting to think that your SEO strategy must be completely different from mainstream products.

I can detect this from your question about just using the names and titles of whatever products that you are selling.

Unless you’re using the mainstream technique of “best XXX,” I would stay away from just using the name of the product.

You have to pair it with something that people are searching for like “Product Name Review,” “Product Name Scam,” “Product Name Ripoff,” or “Product Name Exposed.”

Think in terms of what people are searching for and why they’re searching.

A lot of people just focus on how people search.

So, they just come up with content with the right titles and they think that the piece will rank and sell.

No, it won’t do this automatically!

You have to set it up the right way.

And, for your site to even rank your product reviews or product-focused pages, you have to have other content.

This is called authority context.

So, for example, if you’re selling adult toys, it would make sense to have several pages highlighting the importance of toys when building intimacy between couples.

It can also have pages on how to select from different types of toys without mentioning brand names and overtly selling.

I hope you get my point.

You use these informative pages—usually based on questions—to build context for what you’re really trying to do.

It’s obvious you’re trying to sell products—all of us are.

But, it matters a lot how you do it, and a lot of this turns on how you set your site up.

So, build info pages first to create context, and then channel all this SEO power to the main products that you are selling.

Otherwise, what you’re doing is just the same as what everybody else is doing and it’s very easy for your pages to get drowned out.

you have to target informative based keywords in your niche then offer your products within the main article,
there's nothing confusing here, as long as the keyword/topic is within the niche, you're good to go
