As the title, I am curious to find out, at what point do you get a view on YT?

I can't imagine it is as soon as you click, but I also can't imagine that you have to wait til the end.

Educate me... Please.

After 30 seconds have passed it counts as a view, even if the viewer is not logged into a youtube account.

When a video reaches 300 views youtube will stop the view count to check if the views are legit.

Ah that's interesting...

Thanks. I feel a little more satisfied now

That's wrong

The answer is so wrong.

If you really was curious, you would easily find it out.

If you don't see how, then damn.

and now the entertainment comes in to repeat what i just said
you didnt need to repeat what i said above your post

Well, didn't mean to. Your post just ninja'd my post.

Yeah, guess you're right. Unwatching this thread.

EDIT:
Googled it and seems like the first answer is right.

YouTube will count a legit view, when a legit user (logged in or logged out) will go to a video and start to watch it for 5 sec or more
if the video is NEW with 0 views, you will be able to see the first 150-180 views coming in real-time to the public video counter
then that counter will stop progress for a few hours, but you can still see the views count on in the YouTube analytics dashboard

@Armalite says it right, it doesn't always happen like that tho. But from your youtube studio you can see how many hours your watchers have watched. You can make your conclusion.

ah a 2 word reply with no explanation
a counter argument means explaining why is he wrong
not your wrong and byby

I have died laughing :D:D:D:p:p:p

Thanks for all of the replies, everyone.

As I said, it was an off the cuff question. I just wondered if anyone knew the answer.
