New Youtube Update?

Just checked my rankings, somehow a video with 400 views, 0 likes, 0 subs, 1 month old has outranked everybody for this keyword.

It does have a ton of spam backlinks though,, about 3000 from 200 domains. Is it normal to be able to rank on Youtube with just backlinks? Or do you think this something new/temporary?

Backlinks play a just as important roles as any other method such as views, likes and so on! It could be because he has seo'd his channel and video upto the max, gained alot of backlinks and then pinged them all. This can cause youtube to think it's a hot hot video and rank it extreamly quick, I've had this happen with a few of my videos before. Done all the onsite and ofsite seo then pinged all the links at once! Threw my video straight into first place, just watch it for a few days and see if it bounces back! My guess is it will!
