Will changing my wordpress theme to a diff style theme mess up my google rankings or the way google has indexed my site? I know its a noob questions but id rather be safe then sorry

u can change the theme but keep the navigation structure like the old site. But for SEO purposes, i reccommend thesis themes for wordpress.

Nothing is absolute... SO can't say best... But from past experience we can say Thesis is very good and offers functionality and SEO which is ahead of other themes...

Apart from bad coding or navigation change like stuff, you don't loose ranking because of change in theme...
