I am going to set up a new site and looking for some advice.

I do not know how to build sites so I am looking to buy a domain and service that gives a template that you can customise myself on a regular basis with new text pictures plus has a wordpress plugin.

Any ideas? Want to keep costs low !!

Thanks

Croftfoot,

You could always try one of the packages out there. For example Intuit has website packages starting at about 150 and an extra setup fee. Be warned that you lose a lot of control when you go this route in terms of customization and SEO. I suppose if you don't know a lot about websites in the first place it may not make a difference to you.

Its pretty simple to set up a basic wordpress site on your own if you are technically inclined. Buy a domain and hosting from a provider like GoDaddy or Hostgator. Download the self hosted Wordpress package and upload it to your hosting provider using a free FTP client like Filezilla.

Most hosting providers have step by step instructions on how to do this if you give it a little effort.

GoDaddy,

http://www.godaddy.com/

Or hostgator,

Wordpress (website in a box)

http://wordpress.org/download/

Filezilla,

http://filezilla-project.org/

Here is a pretty good tutorial on how to set up a wordpress site,

Note that excluding the costs for your domain and hosting, this would be totally free.

Hope that helps,

Shawn

You can also try Artiser. It allows you to build templates in multiple platforms such as html, wordpress, joomla, blooger, etc. Also, it's really user friendly so if you are a newbie to website design it will be very easy for you.

Try wordpress templates !!
Seriously need no coding knowledge !!
yu get many premium themes here ..

There's plenty of awesome looking free themes for Wordpress, and plugins to do just about everything. The only thing you should have to pay for is the domain and the hosting .. but this is optional, you could just use wordpress_com Web 2.0 site to get you started they're all free.
