New website idea

Hi, first I want to say that i'm not a noob in IM and websites building, in fact im a professional web designer with lots of experience at hand.
Just yesterday I had an idea for a website and i'm currently trying to figure it out if it will work or not.
So basically it will be a website where users will come and submit their stories or experiences (i'll implement a user generated content function).
I chose the niche market, I know my exact target audience and demographic, but there's still these questions in my mind which I'm yet to find answers for:
Why would people share their stories and experiences with the internet? (The 'writers')
Why would people come to read those particular stories? (The 'readers')

Any help and/or ideas will be highly appreciated.

have you heard about reddit? front page of internet? What do you think it is about?
 
Yes, of course I heard about reddit... But I don't intend my website to become a place where people can talk about every imaginable thing out there. It will be limited to only one topic.
 
so basically it is like forum which has specific topic?
 
Yes, a very specific topic, but will not have a forum software installed on it... Just a function which will allow people to write directly from the front-end with a possibility to leave comments on those writings.
 
i think you should choose a strong niche, a niche that have many things to talk about.
 
I researched the niche and I think it has potential, but I'm always wondering what will drive people to take time to write their stories? That's my biggest concern.
 
vote for reddit, for sure or other social media where you can post your stuff.
 
there are already sites for this. there is a website where users can write their storys and read storys from others.. it's not that new thing you think^^

i googled for just 1min and found like 6 different websites - all with thatfeatures what you want to implement.


p.s: example for what i mean -> wattpad.com etc.

Hello,

do a "rate your x product" site where people can give reviews about products in your niche, where they can vote for other reviews.

They would write because others could see how they write well, or because you could make a contest each month (for example, reviews who are the most voted win something). People would read because people love reviews about products (think Amazon), and they love read critics about products.
