New Website idea. You can have it!

So i just thought of this idea, keep in mind its late and im tired so I may not be thinking clearly. I have no intentions of creating this website so if you think you can take on the task, go for it.

A database of logos from nearly every company etc. and you would upload your logo to the site, a script would then analyze the logo and bring up all other logos that look similar to it.

Ive found so many times ive come up with a logo design and someone looks at it and their like "oh thats cool, it sorta looks like the _____ logo".. CRAP!! Back to the drawing board

The software could also give variations that could also look cool.

Again forgive me if im totally talking garbage out of my head right now

Yep, nice idea, but starts to get pretty tricky when u get into the logo validation. (Logos come in all sorts of sizes and formats and even variations) Seems like some pricey software to build. But if done, could be usefuls

That is ONE expensive idea lol. I don't know how image patterns work, but you have to analyze it (just like spamfilter analyzes a photo for url, phone# etc.) and then compare with others...Difficile as the French would say it...Very difficile!!! lol

There are a few "view all logos ever" sites. And there are sites that can find similar images. Shouldn't be too hard if you could figure out how to just mash them together somehow.

I think they already coded one of those in Langley, but instead of logos it does it with faces

Actually I think the bidding process was handled through GAFreelancer. I think they saved some money by going with a bidder with no feedback that gave then a special price because he wanted to prove himself to the community.

LOL..I wonder what the budget was

it a complicated alghorythm, if you can do this kind of website u can easily do a captcha reader and believe im almost sure everybody need a blackhat captcha reader webservice

there is actually web service but they are not tolerating ( spam kind of stuff)

I had a coder once that was hired by a company to make a software for detecting cancer in xray s, this is hard as shit to code, you would have to put the logo in a specific category, choose the letters in it , not let the software do all alone,
and again really hard to code, but, since there is nothing like this, it might get a few visitors if anyone will pull the code off, but we are talking 2 years of development here
and im not kidding

dude, all faces follow a pattern, logos don t
hard as shit to do it with faces also, with logos we cant even go there, and yes a coder that cand do this can break any captcha, and if you brake captchas, you make lots of money

Most logo's writing can be detected by OCR, (captcha's are made to be hard to read, logos aren't)
The hardest thing would be gauging what is 'similar', colours, designs, placement, you need to define this alot more before it would even be concievable.

you need something to read the shape and convert it to data to compare it to other image,you have to make em of the same size.

only if you could use google similar images
as an api to find similar logos, then your
idea would be feasible with a few days/weeks
of work. there was a stock image website
that i cannot remember a while back that
would analyze images and give you similar
images based on composition, color, shape,
etc. so your idea is very possible, and not
impossible to implement. hope it helps.

Logos are somehow a representation of a company or product.I prefer to have a simple but attractive logo that can serve a good idea to get lots of customers.

It is not as hard as it seems at first.

Divide and Conquer. FTW

1. Orient logo in one direction
- Scan different regions of the logo and search database for similarities. If a match is found attach a score, full/partial whatever!!
- Each logo in database should now have a score which you use to tell if they make the similarity cut.

2. Change orientation of logo and do as in 1.

For extra magic, each logo in the database is stored in various altered states (desaturated,gray-scale,green removed,blah blah blah) and you also match these as done above.

Magic ain't over. You can still match similarities by rescaling the logo to various sizes and matching again.

With millions of logos efficiency is going to kill you if you match by comparing regions, with some thought to problem, you can create an indexed look up table.

Still a tough problem

Faces are still easier to match, 1. they are all oriented in one direction, 2. you can choose colors by black dude, white dude. 3. easy to scale by marking the eyes, nose and mouth.
