New webshop on ranking domain

Dear Blackhatters.

I have a webpage ranking as number 3 for its main keyword and I'm thinking of changing the wordpress blog into a wp-shop.
Will this affect my rank? I'll continue with the same keywords, but I'll loose all the inner pages..

anyone done this before or have any suggestions, should I leave it as it is or change it?

Yes It will have a effect as structure of your website will changed. I have done this before and my sites ranking went down

I understand that, but I'll still have the links and also I'll always have the main domain links. The question is, will I loose everything and have to start all over again, or will I loose some rank but still be on the first page if you understand?!?

what you can do is redirect your old inner page links to your new inner page links created using wp-shop. This should sustain your ranking I do this quite a lot as I have seasonal products so in order to sustain my rank I use 301 redirects for my inner pages and then make sure that you build links to your new inner pages to maintain their strength.

If your root domain is ranking, you shouldn't see too much change. If your interior page structure changes, you'll probably lose most of the deep long tail rankings.

Thanks guys. My root domain is ranking as number 2, but I have inner pages ranking as number 3, 4 and 7. But I can create new inner pages with the same url as them in a news or blog in the new webshop. Will new content on these pages remove the link juice or is it better to redirect the pages instead of creating new ones?
