Noob4ever,
I'm not sure there is an answer to your question. If you are not allowed to post links any more, there isn't much you can do about it but find another method.
Participating and actively engaging people on social media is the way to build a following. Whether or not your progress is typical will depend on your niche.
Other methods that you could try would be to promote the page to your other connections, use FB advertising to try and get more likes, and promote the page on other web properties. Make videos and fan-gating them is also another strategy. You could also fan-gate other content, for instance some type of information that your market might want access to. An email blast to a targeted list, a contest for likes, or some type of free offer in exchange for likes.

Remember that getting the likes is the first step and not a measure of success. Naturally the ultimate goal is to get people to buy cars however a good metric to look at when determining how effective you are at building the brand online is the number of people talking about this in your facebook page. Try and get that number to go up.
Hope that helps,
Shawn
