So I've been looking around for a bit, and I managed to buy domain and hosting to start an Amazon affiliate site. People have previously directed me towards SEO guides to help with my website, but I'm completely lost. I don't fully understand all the vocabulary behind SEO and just the basics behind that. Could someone direct me to somewhere that can explain a lot of these things, especially if its geared towards amazon affiliate? Thanks guys

You should read all parts of this before you start and also browse around the forums. A thread doesnt have to be about "what is seo" specifically for you to learn, just look at problems people are having and what people are suggesting they do to get familiar with the lingo and the situations that can arise, hopefully this helps get you on the right track :)

Thanks man I appreciate the help. Any other help would be great!

Most of us started SEO from a place like this and questions.

BHW is an IM forum, don't forget that.
There are lots of threads about SEO already, simply surf through the search box and read the different guides.

Google and blogs like search engine journal are great to use too.

Alternatively, you can hire a professional to teach you some tricks about SEO.

There are some great tutorials here too, explaining how to start doing SEO for a website, just look for phpbuilt's guide to authority websites.

Search for what is working in 2014, no point picking up bad habits of SEO tactics that worked 5 years ago!! You can also check out http://doseoyourself.com to learn about SEO

SEO is something you need to learn, like a language. It will take time to master but once you do you have endless opportunities. I run a SEO firm and provide said services. Contact me and I will give you some FREE pointers.

If you want a basic primer try Aaron Wall's SEO book. If you want an easy to follow, actionable free SEO tips try Brian Dean's blog. Here's a hint: if you build links ANYONE can build, you're not going to go anywhere. The new whitehat SEO is all about getting 'hard' links.
