New to SEO please help

Start with putting good content on your site and worry about the backlinks when you get there !
This is a Black Hat Forum - so we are always trying to find ways to "game" the system.
BH wise - you want to create some Web 2.0 with some decent content with links to your site - then blast those with all sorts of BH Tools
White Hat wise - you want quality links only with a decent social media presence -- so no over-reliance on any 1 type of backlinks.
Being a noob - you should be reading and taking notes - first -- before doing anything.

Treat SEO like a business and find your own angle
You really need to get a few good quality pages of content on your site first. The thing is, you don't want to really rush
the process of ranking a site. You want to make it look as natural as possible. Don't get a domain, slap up a website, and
then just fire a ton of links to it all within a few days. Since all of the new updates, it takes a little longer to rank a site. Now
there are restrictions to that statement as well, because if there is extremely low competition, you can rank a site pretty quickly
by just getting an exact match domain (EMD), and and putting up a single page of minimal content. I can say this, because I just
recently did this very thing.

Congrats man you're one of the few who don't go around posting threads about "teach me how to earn money". Now to your question, you should first focus on on-page seo.. There are a few good guides on here about how to do that just use the search.. On page seo basically involves doing keyword research, writing good content, keeping a good kw density and all that shit.. Once you're done with that you need to start building links to your site gradually. There are good guides about that as well on the forum. So go on and start reading

Before dealing with offsite seo, start with onsite first. You can get ranked without backlinks if the competition is easy. I've got a page in my new site that ranked 5th for a 5 word long tail and I was surprised because I haven't even started any backlinking yet. That really reinforced the fact that onsite seo is just as important as offsite, for me anyways.
Get the keyword in the page title, page description, heading tag, then of course in the body content.
