Hey guys,

I've been lurking on this site over the past month. I'm not very educated in the world of SEO and have found this site to be very informative.
I read over some of the basics on here, but I'm still a newbie.

I made the mistake of purchasing a new domain over a used one and it's playing quite a factor in my ranking (I believe). Anything specific I should know about? I'm not entirely sure if I'm allowed to post my domain on here or not, but I'd be glad to PM it to anyone interested.

Also, I'm using Adobe Muse which I'm slowly but surely starting to realize isn't exactly ideal for SEO. I'm using Wordpress, though.

Thanks!

Josh

Do you need tips to increase your domain ranking or something else ?

Hey, it's not matter, New domains also rank quicker. I advice you to do proper on-page seo and keep add new content and start build few quality links along with social signals. That's it.

Welcome to BHW :)

Yeah your site being new has nothing to do with it, almost all the sites I rank are new. If you want to learn fast, focus on what gets people penalized and avoid doing it. Learn about Panda and Penguin. Avoid over-optimizing your anchors and disrespecting link velocity. And use whatever money you can to test things. The fastest way to learn SEO is to test. Spend 10% of your time reading/learning and 90% testing.

Wow! Thanks for the responses! I'll definitely take note. Am I able to post my site on here with a broken hyperlink to show you guys? I'm hosting the site through Register. I'm sure it's a joke compared to other options, but like I said, this is all new to me.

Thanks again!

What tests do you recommend? Any specific site in mind?

Domain ranking is my primary concern. The majority of the keywords I'm trying to use have 200 - 700 million search results. Is this too many? I'm sure I could narrow it down a bit more, I just didn't want to leave anything on the table.
